Deere holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.A. in Development Studies from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Her current research interests include gender inequality in asset ownership, land policy and agrarian reform, rural social movements, and gender in Latin American agricultural development.
