Dr. Crystal Marull is the Coordinator of the Online Spanish Program. She holds a Ph.D. in Bilingualism and Second Language Acquisition. Her theoretical work motivates her course design as she capitalizes on the advantages of digital tools and virtual environments to offer a variety of media-rich lesson plans to foster growth and understanding of the target language through personalized and individualized instruction. She adopts an innovative approach that incorporates telecollaborative virtual exchanges to facilitate student conversations with native speakers located across Latin America. These personal exchanges are crucial to engaging traditional and non-traditional learners by providing them with a safe space to navigate the process of discovery and to find meaning for their learning. Her courses have received both local and national recognition and her innovative course model was published in the journal article "Authentic Language Learning through Telecollaboration in Online Courses" by TechTrends, March 2020 (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11528-020-00488-2).
