An expert and innovator in tuberculosis research, Lauzardo oversees TB research at UF’s Haiti lab in Gressier. He has been part of the development of the UF and Haiti’s Laboratoire National de Sante Publique training program for Haitian laboratory in advanced tuberculosis diagnostics. He is involved in a Centers for Disease Control epidemiological study evaluating the optimum use of diagnostic testing in latent TB that hopes to uncover methods for conducting diagnostic testing and treatment of TB in low resource settings. He co-founded the Keira Grace Foundation Inc., a charitable foundation developing partnerships between pediatric oncology programs in North America and Europe with programs in developing countries aimed at improving survival rates in low resource settings.
