Biography

Idalis Villanueva Alarcón designed and directs the TWISTER (Transforming Workforce by Interconnecting Structures of Training, Education, and Research) Lab, and she is an associate chair and associate professor in the Department of Engineering Education. The TWISTER Lab is a one-of-a-kind multi-modal laboratory that synergizes scholarship in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) learning and teaching with mixed- and multi-modal methods based on biological laboratory techniques, physiological sensor technologies, data sciences, machine learning, and others, to establish a comprehensive understanding of engineering learning and working environments.
