Biography

Laura Happe is a licensed pharmacist with more than 20 years of experience as an academic and senior executive across healthcare consulting, pharmaceutical research, managed care, and graduate education. At the University of Florida, Laura is a professor and director of an online graduate program for the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy. She is also editor-in-chief of the Journal of Managed Care and Specialty Pharmacy.

Dr. Laura Happe is a pharmacist who says she noticed over-aggressive treatment when it came to pain management. As that treatment grew, it became what we now know as the ongoing opioid epidemic, claiming thousands of lives across the nation. But with that, she got an idea for a book. "We have books to talk to our kids about puberty, about bullying, about internet safety, " Dr. Happe says.
